How do you wire in a 1965 Mustang stock radio
A friend has a '65 Mustang and her radio was connected to the battery via
the starter relay. What was happening was the radio was able to turn on
with the car OFF. If this is normal stop me, but she asked me to take a
look at it. l figure there is suppose to be a wire hooked to an accessory
so it will only come on when the key is in the ignition. For now l
left the power wire disconnected from the relay, but need to know where to
hook the other wire up ( because there is another wire with the power one, but it was not hooked up ). Can anyone help with specifics and possibly a wiring diagram? Thanks
I think old Ford radios 12-Volt power wires were black. It
should have a large black cigar-shaped noise filter in the line, whatever
the color.
You can connect it to the fuse block to the terminal labeled ''ACC'' or
right off the ignition switch. Take a test light, turn the ignition to
ACC and test for power. Turn key off when you find it to verify it is switched. Tap into the wire with a T-Tap connector, available in most auto parts or electronics stores.
Chilton is manual would have that.
